Biographical Material
No Comprende formed in 1988 under the influence and powered by the choice malt flavor of the Cobra (King). Strictly playing the backyard party circuit for two chaotic years, they broke up in 1990 after too many drugs, lack of practice and not to mention running out of backyards to play. N.C. has done re-union shows in 1995 and 1998 and reformed in February 1999 (New Comprende). The now wear masks to hide their identity for unknown reasons. In 1989 N.C. released a 5 song cassette E.P. on the unfamous "Pedro cassette label S.A.D. Cassettes. Other releases include 1 live song on The Worst of S.A.D. Cassettes compilation (released in 1991) and 2 songs on the Procrastination Youth 2 "Pedro compilation (released in 1991), also out on S.A.D. Cassettes. In the past, N.C. members have also had a part in these bands: Bedlam, Hippie Temptation, Food Chain, Slickbelly, Manteca, Rig, Secret Crease, F.C.P. and The Other One. N.C. will soon release a full-length as part of the new S.A.D. econo-burned CD series.
Notes from the band
No Comprende has always had the same crew, but have just added new bassist Raya, with El Cochino moving from bass to guitar. "We do not consider ourselves a part of the South Bay scene. We're from San Pedro, the harbor area, we don't really know any of the South Bay bands, we're just doing our own thing, we like to fight at practice, we don't want to be part of any scene." N.C. is heavily influenced by two blacks... Black Sabbath and Black Flag. "Our motto: Apocalypse Now. We figure it's all right to play gigs. It's all right. It's all been approved. Zap'em with our music, Man! Zap'em with guitars. There's mines over there. There's mines over there too. We're an American band, "Pedro civilians. Hi, Yanks. You got the mota and that's what I've been dreaming of. Well, poowee, poowee, baby. Išll tell you one thing, those clubs are a mess, Man. Whew. Who are these people? Yeah, well. They think we've come to take them away. You don't talk to us, you, er, listen to us. Sabbath enlarged my mind. We're a little band, we're a little band, their a great band. Timo can be terrible. I can tell you something like the other day, he wanted to kill me or something like that. Because I took his picture. He said, if you take my picture again, I'm gonna kill you. And he meant it. He gets friendly again, he really does. But you don't judge Secret Crease. You don't judge Secret Crease like an ordinary band. No Comprende, you're looking at the heads. Sometimes we go too far. We're the first to admit it. Crazy? Wrong! Wrong! If you could have heard the band just two days ago. If you had heard us then. You were gonna call us crazy? We forget ourselves with our people, forget ourselves..."
